Senior Congress leader is in ICU after getting tested positive for COVID-19!

Weeks after getting tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection, senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Sunday for further treatments. 

The 71-year-old septuagenarian is one of the senior advisers to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and is a notable leader in strategizing the policies for the Congress party. Patel took to Twitter on October 1 and announced that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus and kept himself in home isolation. Days later, he was admitted to a private hospital in Faridabad. 

However, Ahmed Patel, who is also the treasurer of the Congress party, had developed Covid related complications following which he was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on Friday. On Sunday, his son Faisal Patel announced that the Congress leader has been moved to the ICU for further treatments.  

Taking to Twitter, Faisal said, "On behalf of his family, we would like to share that Shri Ahmed Patel had tested positive for COVID-19 a few weeks ago. He has now been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon for further treatment. His condition is stable and he continues to be under medical observation". 

"We will provide you updates from this handle. We request you to pray for his speedy recovery", Faisal added. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had on Saturday told a news agency that 'there is nothing to worry about Patel's health. He is stable and he is on partial ventilator support and he is getting recovered'. After Patel's son Faisal revealed that the Congress leader was moved to the ICU, senior party leaders have been wishing him a speedy recovery. 

Congress leader and former Union minister Anand Sharma took to Twitter and said, "Deeply concerned and praying for the good health of my friend and comrade @AhmedPatel. Please join us in praying for his early recovery" 

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted, "An extraordinary figure in Indian politics, @ahmedpatel, battles for his health. I have long been an admirer of his exceptional qualities & wish him a speedy & complete recovery. He has pulled off many great victories; praying that this will be one more!" 

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "We all pray for your speedy recovery Ahmed Bhai - eagerly waiting for you to be fit & back to continue our resolve to serve the people of the nation. Get well soon". Ahmed Patel is getting treated at the same hospital where Union Home Minister Amit Shah was admitted after he tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection.
