Tamil Nadu state cabinet led by Chief Minister MK Stalin has reached its full capacity on Wednesday after Udhayanidhi Stalin has become a minister and inducted as the 35th minister in the cabinet. Udhayanidhi Stalin took oath as the minister on Wednesday and the oath was administered by Governor RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan.
As per the rule, only 15% of the total assembly strength can form a cabinet. As Tamil Nadu has 234 seats, 15% of it - 35 ministers can constitute a cabinet. As Udhayanidhi Stalin has become the 35th minister, the cabinet has reached its full capacity. Udhayanidhi has been inducted into the cabinet during his very first term as an MLA and as he entered the Chief Secretariat as a minister, he was given a rousing welcome by the cabinet ministers.
A separate room and a government vehicle with the Indian flag have been kept readied for Udhayanidhi and after the swearing-in ceremony, he drove to the memorials of DMK stalwarts CN Annadurai and Kalaignar Karunanidhi and paid a floral tribute. Surrounded by hundreds of partymen, Udhayanidhi then reached Chief Secretariat and entered his official workplace where he took charge officially.
Udhayanidhi Stalin was accompanied by senior ministers and DMK leaders including Durai Murugan, KN Nehru, Ponmudy, and I Periyasamy. Several ministers have also extended their greetings to Udhayanidhi and amidst their presence, the new minister signed his first ministerial orders. According to our sources, Udhayanidhi Stalin has signed and passed three orders as the minister.
As his first signature, Udhayanidhi Stalin signed to allocate Rs 47 crore to the Chief Minister's Trophy, a tourney, under the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), which includes various games including Badminton, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Swimming, Table Tennis, and Volleyball for men and women below 25 years of age.
In his further orders, Udhayanidhi Stalin signed to approve the increase of pensions for the retired sportsmen from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000. He also gave his approval to conduct the Kabbadi tournament in 2022-23 under the Chief Minister's Trophy. After passing the orders, Udhayanidhi, along with a league of ministers, met Chief Minister MK Stalin as he began his ministerial venture.
