Returning to Tamil Nadu through air? You must know these guidelines..

As the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has resumed the operations of the domestic flight services across the country on Monday - May 25th, the Tamil Nadu state government has issued fresh guidelines and protocols for the passengers who are returning to the state from the rest of the Indian states amid the fourth spell of the nationwide lockdown.

The resumption has come as part of the gradual exit from the lockdown and people who are boarding flights from the other states to Tamil Nadu must be aware of the fresh guidelines on entering the state. According to the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) issued by the state government, the passengers must register their details on the TNePass portal prior to the departure and must obtain the pass to enter the state.

The passengers are mandated to stay under 14-day home quarantine and in case they don't have home quarantine facilities, they must register for paid quarantine services. All the passengers are entitled to undergo COVID-19 screening protocols at the airport and they will be stamped with the quarantine seal with the date following which they would be permitted to exit the airport.

The symptomatic people would be taken to the hospital and placed under isolation while the asymptomatic people would be staying under home or institutional quarantine for 14 days. As far as e-pass is concerned, the passengers must obtain the passes after they received confirmation on their flight tickets and the pass will be issued along with the QR code to their mail ids and phone numbers.

With the view of easing the way for availing the pass to enter the state, the government has made arrangements at the airport for registering for the e-pass for few days initially. The SOP further issued restrictions on the vehicles that queue up for picking up the passengers from the airport. According to the guidelines, the pickup vehicles along with one person apart from the driver will be permitted to enter the airport and they should adhere to the social distancing protocols.

Apart from these guidelines, the government has also installed additional mechanisms at the airport and these include the facilities for disinfecting the luggage, ambulance for transporting the positive patients to the hospital, temperature scanning, and the measures that must be followed by the airport staff and authorities.

According to Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Chennai airport would see a maximum of 25 arrivals in a day. However, the airport has no limit on the number of departures and the rest of the airports in Tamil Nadu would be operating the flights like how the rest of the country operates. The reports stated that the flight services in the states of Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal won't be resumed on Monday. According to the minister, Andhra Pradesh would be resuming the services on Tuesday- May 26th, and West Bengal would be commencing the operations from May 28th- Thursday.
