Reputed actor Sarathkumar tests positive for COVID-19! Here's what Radikaa Sarathkumar had to say

Reputed Tamil actor turned politician Sarathkumar has tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection on Tuesday and he has been getting treated at a private hospital in Hyderabad. In what has become a shocking development for the fans and fraternities, the 66-year-old thespian has been asymptomatic. 

The actor's wife and veteran actress Radikaa Sarathkumar had confirmed that the actor had contracted the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking to Twitter, Radikaa said, "Today Sarath tested positive for Coronavirus in Hyderabad. He’s asymptomatic and in the hands of extremely good doctors! I will keep you updated about his health in the days to come". 

Following Radikaa's tweet, Sarathkumar's daughter and actress Varalaxmi had also shared the news that the actor turned politician had spelled positive for the global pandemic. Varalaxmi wrote, "Appa @realsarathkumar has tested positive today for #covid... He’s currently in Hyderabad recovering and in good hands.. we will keep you posted ... thank you..!!". Sarathkumar had tested positive a day after he had appealed to the students in Tamil Nadu to follow the precautions while they go to college. 

On Monday, Sarathkumar took to Twitter and said, "As the COVID-19 cases are declining and as the vaccine is nearing the completion, the colleges and universities for the final year undergraduate students are going to get re-opened today (Monday). I dearly request the students to pay more attention to their safety at this juncture and go to colleges".

Sarath Kumar has been active in cinema for over three decades and he is one of the actors who entered politics. Sarath Kumar has founded Samathuva Makkal Katchi in 2007 and he allied with Jayalalithaa's ADMK and contested in the 2011 Tamil Nadu assembly polls. Sarath Kumar had served as Rajya Sabha MP from 2001 to 2006 and he also had served as MLA in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly representing Tenkasi constituency from 2011 to 2016.
