Well-renowned playback singer SP Balasubramanyam has been tested positive for the Coronavirus viral infection as the development emerged amid the rapid spread has shocked the film fraternity. The singer, who is currently in his 74, has said that he is doing clinically stable. 

According to the reports, the playback singer was admitted to the MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai on Wednesday morning. Amid the treatment, the singer has released a video from his hospital bed in which he asserted that he is recovering from the infection and he will be discharged in two days. 

In his video, he stated that he has developed cold and it has been the only symptom and for the last three days, he had complained of a fever and chest congestion. By requesting the people to refrain from calling him, he said that his condition should not be a cause of any concern for his well-wishers and fans. 

He said, "Last two to three days, I have been having a little discomfort, little chest congestion. Phlegm forming and cold and on and off fever. These three things, otherwise no problem. But I didn't want to take it easy and I went to the hospital and got checked. They said it was just a very mild positive of Corona. They said you can stay home. But I didn't want to do that as it is very tough with all the family. They are very concerned. So I got admitted to the hospital", the playback singer puts out his current state.

He further added that "I am in good hands, they are taking good care of me. I have good health. I'm perfectly alright except for the cold and fever. Fever has also subsided and I will be discharged in two days and I will be home. A lot of people have been calling me and I couldn't attend the calls. I have come here mostly to take rest so there won't be any disturbance to me and to take medication. I am fine, I will be fine".

Soon after he published the video and revealed that he has been tested positive for COVID-19, fans and followers have replied to him and have been sending their wishes for the speedy recovery. The playback singer holds a special and unparalleled place in the film industry with an immense reputation and great following. 

As a multilingual artist, he has been bestowed with multiple national awards and he has sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages. He has composed and sung a song to promote awareness on the COVID-19 viral infection amid the lockdown. As of Tuesday, Tamil Nadu has reported 2,68,285 COVID-19 cases so far of which 55,152 are active, 2,08,784 have been recovered, and 4,349 had succumbed to the virus.
