Displaying the prefix for the political storm triggered by the arrival of VK Sasikala, the ADMK and Sasikala's faction have currently been engaging in the war of words over the rousing welcome for Sasikala, with ADMK alleging that the people who have gathered to welcome her to Tamil Nadu were paid by Sasikala's nephew TTV Dhinakaran.
Stirring the fresh tensions between both the rival factions ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly polls, the massive crowd that showered a rousing welcome for the expelled ADMK General Secretary has become a talking point for the ADMK and Dhinakaran's AMMK in their bid to claim they control the Tamil Nadu ruling party. Both the factions are rebelling against each other on who won the crowds and who are real supporters.
Senior ADMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister D Jayakumar, who is the mouthpiece for Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, has on Wednesday alleged that the people were paid money to gather and welcome Sasikala. The minister went on to say that Sasikala and Dhinakaran organized people with money but the roadshow unveiled by Sasikala will be forgotten soon.
He further stated that former Chief Ministers MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa had successfully established themselves in the movie industry and in politics and they had sacrificed their lives for people. By citing that Sasikala's roadshow will be like a passing cloud, Jayakumar stated that Sasikala cannot become a leader within one day by just creating magic and added that Sasikala's roadshow would get passed like the cloud. According to reports, Jayakumar's comment that Sasikala can't create magic has come after Dhinakaran claimed that he has been asked how he created this magic.
Dhinakaran has said that the people who gathered to welcome Sasikala were true followers of Amma (Jayalalithaa). On Wednesday, Dhinakaran has issued a statement to the AMMK members in which he said, "I have never seen such a grand welcome throughout the way for such a long hour till now amid pressures and restrictions imposed by the ruling party. I am being asked how did this happen, how lakhs of people gathered but everything took place with no violence, and how I created this magic when other leaders thought that the crowd was gathered to instigate the violence and to damage public property".
"The only answer for all these questions is they are the true followers of Amma", Dhinakaran added with referring to the petition moved by the ADMK Ministers of Tamil Nadu DGP Tripathy. It must be noted that Tamil Nadu Ministers Jayakumar, Thangamani, and CV Shanmugam had moved their complaint against Sasikala on Saturday by alleging that Sasikala and Dhinakaran were planning to incite violence and they are a threat to the law and order. Dhinkaran has on Wednesday responded to the police complaint and said no violence has happened during the arrival of Sasikala and claimed that the people who gathered were the true followers of Jayalalithaa.
In his letter to the AMMK members, Dhinakaran said that the massive roadshow was just the beginning. He penned, "Let us show our collective might and work unitedly to emerge victorious in the assembly polls and prevent the evil force DMK from taking over the power". He said, "No one has expected a 6 to 7-hour long journey would take an entire day. Despite that, the cadre had waited patiently and cheered the moment they saw Sasikala".
"No amount of thanking will equal the support you extended", Dhinakaran said and by thanking police officers for spending more hours on the road regulating traffic and facilitating the movement of the convoy, Dhinakaran had expressed his regret to the public if they have encountered any inconvenience caused by the roadshow. VK Sasikala has arrived in Chennai on Tuesday from Bengaluru after completing a four-year prison sentence.
She returned to Chennai by road and it took 23 hours for her to reach the city as thousands of supporters had gathered throughout her way to offer a grand and rousing welcome. Amid sailing through the sea of supporters, Sasikala asserted that she will definitely plunge into active politics and called the supporters to stay united to take on the rival. Her arrival had largely disturbed the ADMK leaders as Sasikala would possibly trigger a fresh revolt within the party to take over its leadership.
While Sasikala's faction had vowed that she is still in ADMK with her strong message to the party leaders that she is ready for the battle to take over the party, the rousing welcome for her had further shocked the ADMK following which the party leaders are claiming that the crowds that gathered to welcome her are not real, in their bid to ensure that the party and members won't go out of their hands ahead of the assembly polls, the first state elections for Edappadi Palaniswami as the Chief Minister.
