Space feature films like Interstellar, Gravity, The Martian, Apollo 13, and so forth never shot in space but soon, the world is going to witness the breaking of the stereotype. For the 'Mission Impossible' actor Tom Cruise, nothing seems to be impossible as he is all set to script a WOW record of performing a real walk on the space for the movie which will be helmed by Doug Liman.
It would be the first movie that goes over the moon and 60-year-old Cruise will become the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the International Space Station. Previously, Cruise and Liman worked together in the movies 'American Made' (2014) and 'Edge of Tomorrow' (2017).
Speaking to BBC, the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group Chairwoman Donna Langley has confirmed about the incredible record that is going to be set. Langley said, "Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan".
"We have a great project in development with Tom, that does contemplate him doing just that. Taking a rocket up to the space station and shooting and hopefully being the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station," she added.
The movie's plot and title haven't been revealed, but Cruise and Limen's collaboration was a major selling point when the project was first announced back in 2020. However, the Covid pandemic delayed the project and the movie is yet to begin the shooting. It is still in the starting phase and will soon proceed to the space to make history. Variety was previously informed by sources that the movie's production budget was $200 million. Obviously, a trip to space for Cruise and a film crew will be expensive.
