The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team is known for its star players, loyal fans and passionate cricket. But recently, the team found itself in a different kind of challenge, a lawsuit against a Tamil film. The film, titled ‘Jailer’, featured a scene where a character actor wore the RCB jersey and made derogatory remarks about women.
The team management was not amused and filed a case claiming that the scene damaged the reputation of one of the most popular teams in the IPL. After considering the arguments presented by both parties, Justice Pradeepa M Singh presided over the case in the Delhi High Court. The atmosphere in the courtroom was charged with tension as the fate of the matter hung in the balance.
The judge observed that the scene was unnecessary and irrelevant to the plot of the film. She also noted that the RCB jersey was clearly visible and recognizable in the scene, which could create a negative impression about the team among the viewers. She ordered the producer of the film to remove that particular scene from September 1st onwards. The order also applied to the telecast and streaming of the film on TV and OTT platforms.
The RCB team welcomed the court’s decision and thanked the judge for upholding their dignity and honour. The film ‘Jailer’, which was released in July this year, is a crime thriller starring Rajinikanth, Tamannah Bhatiya, Mohanlal, Shivaraj Kumar, Sunil, in the lead roles.
