Exactly a day after Actor and Political Hopeful Rajinikanth had made his pro CAA notion public, DMK President and Tamil Nadu Opposition leader M.K.Stalin said that the actor must review his stand and must change his opinion.
On Wednesday, Rajinikanth has revealed his apparent support for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR) for the first time since the Central BJP government had rolled out its policies which were fiercely criticized and condemned by the opposition parties. While addressing the reporters, Rajini stated that NPR is essential to derive the population and CAA is not against Muslims and Indians and he claimed that the parties have intentionally been igniting the panic among the people.
He further asked the students not to take part in the protests and agitations without understanding the issue and warned them that their presence on the protests would be used by the political parties for their own benefits. On Thursday, Stalin was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the signature campaign against CAA in Kovalam near Chennai.
During his address, Stalin said Rajinikanth won't know how CAA is making people suffer and stated that it's sad that the actor has not realized the harmful effects of the CAA. He added that Rajinikanth should think and study about the harmful effects of CAA and he expressed his hope that the actor would change his opinion after he realizes its impact.
The reports say that the DMK party has been meeting the people door to door across the state to acquire their signatures to pressure the Central government to revoke the enacted CAA. The party has been one of the strongest critics against the BJP rule in Center and it has begun its signature campaign on February 2nd and it would conclude on February 8th.
Initially, the party had targeted for 1 crore signatures from the people but on Thursday, the reports have stated that the party members had reached out to 2 crore people. The DMK has planned to approach Indian President Ram Nath Kovind with the signatures with the view of urging the Center to revoke CAA, NRC, and NPR.
