In relishing news for the ardent fans of the superstar, Rajinikanth's next 'Annaatthe' gets ready to serve as Diwali treat during the upcoming festival of lights as movie producer Sun Pictures has on Monday announced that the superstar's treat will hit the big screens worldwide on November 4, 2021.
In what could possibly become the last movie for the superstar, Annaatthe has gardened more expectations from the fans and audiences, given to its cast, as some of the popular faces are going to have a comeback. Taking to Twitter, Sun Pictures on Monday said, "Annaatthe will be releasing on November 4th, 2021. Get ready for Annaatthe Deepavali".
The movie will be an action drama film written and directed by Siruthai Siva, who rose to fame by working with actor Ajith and presenting the movies such as 'Veeram', 'Vivegam', and 'Viswasam'. Through Annaatthe, Siva has directed Rajinikanth for the first time while Imman is composing music. While Rajinikanth plays a lead role, Nayanthara, Meena, Khushbu, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, and Vela Ramamoorthy in important roles.
Actors Sathish and Soori are also inducted to work with Rajinikanth for the first time. Siva's technical collaborators, Vetri will be operating the cameras as a cinematographer while Ruben will be taking care of editing. While the shooting of the film started in February 2020, it was pushed to a halt owing to the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown triggered by the pandemic.
The shooting had on last month resumed in Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. However, the shooting was again got suspended after some of the members of the technical crew had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection. Rajinikanth had also tested for the COVID-19 infection. His result had come negative and the doctors had advised him to take complete rest and avoid the circumstances that would make him vulnerable to COVID-19, which had pushed him to take back his decision of entering politics.
As the movie has got a release date and slated for release during Diwali 2021, it has been expected that the shooting will resume soon to fix the missing parts of the movie. Rajinikanth was last seen in AR Murugadoss directorial 'Darbar' which was bankrolled by Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions. The movie was released in January 2020 and though the movie has grossed over Rs 200 crore worldwide, it also has become the movie that gave the biggest loss for Rajinikanth in his career as it has met with the loss of over 70 crores.
