Rajinikanth vs politics: What's in that leaked letter and how the superstar stirred debate?

The political debates that surfaced around actor and political hopeful Rajinikanth have now made headlines across the state and stirred speculations among the political leaders. The latest debate was directed by what was dubbed to be the internal communication that the superstar had issued to his close advisers.

According to reports close to the development, Rajinikanth is said to have issued the statement to his inner circle concerning his health condition and his political entry in which he seemingly was dubious about his political entry, which was one of the expectations from his fans for decades. In the letter, the actor was said to have expressed his hesitation in entering politics due to his health condition.

The reports say that Rajinikanth needs to buy more time in entering the politics and mulls not to enter politics during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic as the actor had comorbidities including a renal transplant that he had undergone in 2016. The actor had also said to have hinted that he is thinking to refrain from getting into active politics in the absence of the vaccine to treat the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the statement that was circulated on social media, Rajinikanth said that he wasn't in fear for his life but he's more concerned about the welfare of the people. By citing that in order to bring the political change that he promised, the actor said that he has to pitch on the grounds of active politics and he had acknowledged that his political process could be levied with a huge challenge if his health deteriorates. According to reports, the letter that he was said to have sent to his close advisers had somehow got leaked and widely spread across social media.

In the letter, he further said that he must launch the political party before January 15 if he wishes to take the political plunge and he also said that he must reveal his decision before December and added that he will leave his decision to fans and the people to decide what he should do, signaling that the fans and people must decide about his political entry based on the situations. The letter ends with 'People's judgment is God's judgment'.

The reports say that the letter was privately circulated to his close advisers to obtain their feedback about his political entry. However, someone had leaked the letter on the public space, and ever since the letter came to light, it has been getting rampantly spread and it has raised more speculations on his health condition and his political entry ahead of the state assembly polls. Many fans and people had gone perplexed over his statement and it had made headlines on Thursday, stirred the fresh debate around the actor.

When the letter that claimed to be from Rajinikanth had occupied the headlines, the actor was pushed to furnish his public statement regarding his health condition and political entry. In a bid to clear the clouds, Rajinikanth himself had taken to Twitter on Thursday and issued his official statement. In his statement, Rajinikanth had denied that he hadn't issued the letter that was spreading on social media.

The actor had claimed that the letter was fake and everyone knows that it was not his statement. He said, "There has been a statement that has been spreading on social media by claiming that it was issued by me. Everyone knows that it was not his statement. However, the statement about his health condition and the doctors' advice that was mentioned in the letter was true. I will discuss about it with the members of Rajini Makkal Mandram at the right time and I will announce to the people about my political stand".

His tweet has now been circulated across the state and had poured more speculations around the superstar as although he claimed that the letter was fake, he said that his health condition mentioned in the letter was true. He is back on the political debate as the upcoming polls would be the first state legislative elections since he announced that he would enter politics.

In December 2017, he announced he would enter politics, however, he skipped the local body polls, and the 2019 Lok Sabha polls where he neither contested nor extended his support to any party. As the state election is just months away, the expectation is growing around the actor on whether he would enter the electoral politics and contest in the 2021 state polls. If he skips the state polls too, then it would be less likely he would make the political entry. Earlier this year, he vowed that he would enter politics after a political revolution.
