How India performed on the fifth day of the Tokyo Olympics 2021:

We were confident and steadfast at the beginning because we had PV Sindhu in the pack! And she did. She defeated Cheung Ngan Yi 21-9, 21-16, and pulled up to Round 16. As the Indian contingent is fighting the nightmare in the Olympic village with setbacks, Sindhu's triumph would bring relief and she would be aware that the path ahead won't be lenient. Sindhu will be taking on Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt in Round 16 on Thursday.

India is witnessing game-changing events and in the race for honouring the tricolour, World No. 1 archer Deepika Kumari has shown that she is back on track. On Wednesday, after bracing up backlashes, Kumari ended up her day by reserving a berth in the quarterfinals as she has defeated Munico Fernandez of the United States and Karma of Bhutan. Meanwhile, the archery campaign from Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai were ducked out. As a noteworthy, Tarundeep Rai won over Ukraine (6-4) in the first round and was eliminated by Israel's Itay Shanny.

As a light bringer, Boxer Pooja Rani (75kg) stormed into the quarter-finals of the women's middleweight (69-75kg) category resulted in 5-0 and inch closer to a medal. After blowing out Algeria's Ichrak Chaib, Rani is just a victory away to win a medal and she will be taking on Chinese Q Li on Saturday. Rowers Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh had disappointed to qualify for the men's lightweight double sculls final, after finishing sixth and last in the second semifinal.

However, Arjun and Arvind have delivered the best-ever Olympic play by Indian rowers by entering the semifinals. And finally, B Sai Praneeth's campaign came to an end with a 14-21, 14-21 defeat to Netherlands Mark Caljouw. Praneeth was one of the promising lieutenants in the Indian's men badminton fleet and he was the first Indian male shuttler in 36 years to win a bronze medal in the BWF World Championships 2019 and he was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2019.

What's in the store for India on Day 6- Thursday of the Olympics:

The day is going, to begin with, Golf Men's Round 1 having Indian players Anirban Lahiri and Udayan Mane. While Anirban Lahiri has ranked 33 in 2015 and has 18 professional wins history, Udayan Mane has won 11 times on the Professional Golf Tour of India. The country awaits to see a thrilling performance of Arvind and Arjun in Rowing tomorrow and it is expected that they will finish at least at the 12th spot.

We have in the line to battle against Argentina in Hockey Men's pool A after we lost today with Great Britain 4-1 in Women's Hockey. We have quite mighty performers in the pack of Sailing. Indian contingents include Vishnu Saravanan, KC Ganapathy, and Varun Thakkar, and Nethra Kumanan in Laser Men Race 07, 49er Men Race 05, and Laser Radial Women Race 07 respectively.

Can we risk having hope on PV Sindhu play against Mia Blichfeldt (Denmark) in Women's Singles Badminton a second time? And we have our robust player MC Mary Kom on the field in Women's Flyweight (48-51 kg) Round 16 against Colombia. Indian fans are nervously looking forward to Day 6 action.
