For the first time after cracking down the alliance, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray had met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in Pune airport, as a part of the protocol in staging an official welcoming ceremony for the Prime Minister.
Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena and the Chief of Maha Vikas Aghadi, the coalition of three parties (Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, and Shiv Sena) that rules the state, has arrived at Pune airport from Mumbai to welcome the Prime Minister for the first time since assuming the office of the Chief Minister. Along with Uddhav Thackeray, Union Home minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and the current opposition leader of the state Devendra Fadnavis were also present at the airport.
The state government officials stated that after receiving the Prime Minister, Uddhav Thackeray returned to Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Pune to chair the national conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of the Police. The conference, that has been scheduled for three days would witness the top police officials from the states, the chiefs of the investigative and intelligence agencies and Central Armed Police Forces, who will be tabling discussions on the prevailing internal security issues and enhancing the security parameters and apparatus in the country.
The protocol-ic meet between Uddhav Thackeray and Narendra Modi has come nearly after ten days since Thackeray took over the power in the state by outsing the BJP rule. The faces that were expressing smiles between each other during welcoming the Prime Minister are the ones that had directed the month-long political drama and aberrant developments in the state last month with the motive of assuming the power in the state by having no majority.
Shiv Sena party, which has been headed by Uddhav Thackeray, had observed deep alliance with the BJP for the past three decades and by accusing the BJP of not abiding to have rotational Chief Minister post, Shiv Sena had broken its alliance and joined hands with its political rivals Congress and Nationalist Congress Party and forming the tri-party alliance, Uddhav Thackeray had sworn in as the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra on November 28th, 2019.
