Prime ministerial visit to Chennai!

For the first time after sweeping massive victory in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Prime minister Narendra Modi had arrived in Chennai for flagging his presence and to address the 56th convocation ceremony at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

It has been reported that the Prime minister, along with addressing the IITians, will also take part in a prize distribution ceremony for collaborative India- Singapore hackathon 2019 which will be hosted by the research park in the IIT premises.

He had officially stated his conformity of his first visit to Chennai after assuming office for second consecutive time through twitter where he invited the students and the alumni of IIT to share their ideas for his speech. After being addressed the convocation ceremony, the reports say that he has been scheduled to fly back to New Delhi at 1.20 pm and in the wake of his Chennai visit, the security grid has been tightened, where the Chennai city police had deployed about 2000 police personnel around the premises along with prime ministerial security guard SPG, which already had brought the area under its control.

However, it has been speculated that the state opposition parties will stage demonstrations against the Center's notion on imposing Hindi as a common language, that was expressed by Union Home minister Amit Shah which was fiercely criticized by the opposition parties in Tamil Nadu and the reports indicate that the chances of demonstrations by the opposition parties during prime ministerial visit would be less likely as the state Governor has tabled prior discussions with the opposition parties on assuring that the Modi led government won't entertain imposing single language system.
