Prabhas starrer Adipurush completes ten days of run! Here's how much the epic fantasy earned at Box Office...

Adipurush, the much-awaited mythological film based on Valmiki’s Ramayana, has finally hit the theatres on June 16, 2023. The film, directed by Om Raut, stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. The film promises to showcase the epic tale of good versus evil with grand visuals and spectacular action sequences.

However, the film has not lived up to the expectations of the audience and critics alike. The film has received mixed reviews for its substandard VFX, problematic dialogues and lopsided performances. The film has also sparked controversy for its portrayal of Hanuman as a ‘tapori’ character and Ravana as a dreaded villain. The Allahabad High Court has slammed the Censor Board for allowing such dialogues and asked them what they want to teach future generations.

The film has also failed to impress at the box office despite having a huge star cast and a massive budget of Rs 500 crore. The film opened to a decent collection of Rs 37 crore on its first day with Rs 140 crore worldwide gross. However, the film saw a steep decline in its collections over the weekdays and registered only Rs 5.25 crore on its ninth day. 

The film showed a slight growth on its tenth day with Rs 6 crore but is expected to see a dip again over the weekdays. The film has collected approximately Rs 274.55 crore net in India and Rs 450 crore worldwide in its first 10 days.

In an effort to revive the film’s reception, the makers have slashed the ticket prices to Rs 112. They have also revised some of the dialogues to appease the audience. However, these efforts seem to have little impact on the fate of the film.

Adipurush is Prabhas’ first Hindi film after his blockbuster Baahubali series. The actor had high hopes from the film and reportedly gave his 100% to his role. However, he is now flabbergasted by the negative response and is worried about his image. He has two more big projects lined up - Salaar and Project K - with Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone.

Adipurush is a film that had a lot of potential to become a magnum opus but failed to deliver on its promise. The film has disappointed the fans of Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan who were eagerly waiting for this epic saga. The film has also hurt the sentiments of many people who revere Ramayana as a sacred text. Adipurush is a film that will be remembered for its controversies rather than its content, as per reports.
