Well-known thespian of Malayalam Film Industry Anil Murali has passed away on Thursday at the age of 56. He was getting treated for liver-related ailments and he breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi.
Though a Malayali, Anil Murali was a multi-lingual actor as he has appeared in Tamil and Telugu films during his career and playing the role of a police officer in many films have become his signature role. He has acted in over 200 films and most of his career spanned around the Malayalam and Tamil cinema industries.
While his role as a police officer in many Malayalam films has got huge attention in Kerala, he was noted for his roles as the antagonist and villain in Tamil movies. Anil Murali made his debut in the 1993 film Kanyakumariyil Oru Kavitha and strongly cemented a place for him in the movie industry and he went on to act with some of the big stars.
Some of his Malayalam films include Puthen Panam, Double Barrel, Forensic, Classmates, Vargam, City of God, Hero, Robinhood, Kerala Cafe, Bodyguard, Uyare, Avatharam, Run Baby Run, The Don, and Kisan. Some of his Tamil movies include 6 Candles, Nimirndhu Nil, Thani Oruvan, Kanithan, Appa, Jiivi, Kodi, Walter, Mr.Local, Thondan, and Naadodigal 2.
He was last seen in the 2020 Malayalam film 'Forensic' which starred Tovino Thomas in the main role. The film was released in February and his upcoming movie was 'Professor Dinkan', directed by Ramachandra Babu. Anil Murali was surviving with his wife Suma and two children, Adithya and Arundhathi.

After the news of his demise broke out, reputed stars of the Malayalam film industry have been paying their tributes and condolences to the deceased actor. Actor Prithviraj took to Twitter and said, 'Rest in peace Anil Etta'. Actor Tovino Thomas paid his condolences and said 'RIP Anil chetta'. Tamil Actor Sibi Sathyaraj said 'Shocked and saddened to hear that #AnilMurali sir passed away.A great actor and a wonderful human being gone too soon. RIP'

Anil Murali was born in Trivandrum. According to the reports, he was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi on July 22 for liver-related ailments. He breathed his last on Thursday around 12.45 pm.
