In a shocking development, popular Sandalwood actor Sanchari Vijay has passed away on Monday at the age of 38 due to serious injuries that he sustained during a bike accident. The actor was declared brain dead post which his family had decided to donate his organs. After learning about his demise, several fans and fraternities have been paying tribute to the National Award-winning actor.
In a statement, Apollo Hospital, where he was getting treated, said, "Neurologically, he is deeply unconscious and is showing signs of brain failure. The family had come forward and consented to organ donation keeping in view the current irreversible brain damage. We will follow the guidelines as per organ donation protocol." Earlier, the actor was in critical condition after sustaining serious injuries from a bike accident. The actor has been getting treated at an Intensive Care Unit of Apollo private hospital in Bengaluru.
According to reports, Sanchari Vijay has sustained serious injuries after he met with a road accident in Bengaluru in the night hours of Saturday. He and his friend had gone out to buy medicines on a bike and the two were returning to Vijay's residence. While the actor was a pillion rider, his friend Naveen was riding the bike. When both were on the way to the former's residence, their bike had met with an accident by hitting an electric pole at JP Nagar, 7th phase at around 11.45 pm on Saturday.
Vijay had suffered injuries to his head and leg and his friend Naveen had fractured his leg. The actor is in critical condition and is in the Intensive Care Unit of Apollo Hospitals in the city. The reports say that Vijay has been on ventilator support and he was operated on for internal bleeding in his brain.
Speaking to the media earlier, the doctor, who was treating the actor, said that the actor was in a serious condition when he came to the Emergency Department. Upon admission, a CT scan of the brain was performed and the result had shown that he sustained a very severe brain injury in addition to subdural brain bleeding. Brain surgery was immediately done to remove the brain haemorrhage. Currently, the actor is in the Neuro ICU with full life support.
The doctor added that the actor is in a coma state and the next 48 hours are very critical. A team of doctors is monitoring his health condition constantly and is providing him with the best possible treatment. However, amid the efforts to save him, he had breathed his last and declared brain dead. According to reports, Sanchari Vijay is one of the celebrating Kannad actors, and besides his predominance in Kannada, he also had done some Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films.
Vijay had made his debut as an actor in 2011 and before that, he was part of a drama troupe called 'Sanchari' through which he rose to popularity. Vijay's act as a transgender person in the movie 'Naanu Avanalla...Avalu' had brought him a National Award. He was last seen in the Kannad film 'ACT 1978', which was released in 2020. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan's foundation has taken care of the hospitalization expenses of the actor.
In a statement released by Narayan's office, "Dr CN Ashwath Narayan has come forward to bear the full treatment expenses of nation award-winning actor, Sanchari Vijay, who has been admitted to hospital after he got injured in a road accident. Narayan had called up to the head of the Apollo Hospital administration on Monday morning and enquired about the health status of the actor. He also requested the hospital administration not to receive the amount toward treatment expenses from Vijay's family."
After knowing his demise, several actors had paid tribute to the deceased soul and expressed their condolences to the family members. Taking to Twitter, actor Kichcha Sudeepa wrote, "Very very disheartening to accept that Sanchari Vijay breathed his last. Met him a couple of times just before this lockdown... all excited about his next film...that's due for release. Very sad. Deepest Condolences to his family and friends. RIP"
Actor Danish Sait took to Twitter and said, "How unfortunate is this, I just saw an article saying he was in the ICU, and now I read this. My condolences to Mr Sanchari Vijay’s family and friends. Rest in peace sir, your contribution to cinema will live forever."
