The maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam last appeared for the grand teaser launch of 'Ponniyin Selvan' occurred in Chennai on July 8th. His upcoming release 'Ponniyin Selvan' film is based on the novel of the same title narrating the Chola dynasty, a so-called 'dream project' of this south Indian iconic filmmaker.
The sources reported that the Award Winning director is currently admitted to Apollo hospital in Chennai after he tested positive for Covid-19 and has been getting reliable treatment for his health. And as per the reports, is stable, and has no other symptoms. Social Media is pouring speedy recovery wishes and prayers for the director by his fans and well-wishers.
The historical drama, 'Ponniyin Selvan' is slated to release on September 30th, and it will be released simultaneously in five languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film has Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, R. Sarathkumar, and Sobhita Dhulipala. The film’s teaser and posters have been receiving booming responses from the public, where the actor Vikram, who plays 'Aditya Karikalan' in the magnum opus, PS 1 was hospitalized in Kauvery hospital and didn't heed the teaser launch event due to his ailment.
Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin who also tested positive for coronavirus got discharged from the hospital after treatment on Monday and voted in the Presidential polls. The deputy Opposition leader O Panneerselvam who also tested positive and was receiving treatment in MGM Hospital, Actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar reported that she tested positive for Coronavirus on Sunday.
