Alive and kicking, the 'dream project' of Manirathnam's Ponniyin Selvan dropped the bombshell update, and it's momentous this time as the film is to be getting ready to give a surprising experience to the fans on IMAX screen, and said to be it the first film to be shot especially for the specific screen. When the makers' team, shared the update on social media, "Grand gets Grander!  Experience #PS1  in IMAX, the first Tamil film to come out in IMAX! In theatres on 30th September!", filmbuffs are on cloud nine and heating up the social media. What's spesh about it and how does it differ from regular screening?

IMAX theatres weren't popular until the 2000s, despite being introduced in 1971. The main distinction between a regular theatre and an IMAX theatre is the size, visual quality, and audio level of the latter. The IMAX screen is allegedly nearly six times bigger than standard screens. The screens in IMAX theatres are quite large and shaped like a dome. Another benefit is that film watchers can view the movies flawlessly from any angle. No matter where they are sitting, it will have the same experience thanks to the rounded screens and excellent picture quality. There are three different projection formats used by Imax: Imax 2k Digital, Imax 4k with laser, and 15 perforations.

In Chennai, the US-based IMAX Corporation has finally opened its first location. The first will take place in Velachery's Phoenix Market City, followed by Vadapalani's Vijaya Mall. The IMAX theatre has been anticipated by moviegoers ever since it was announced that it would be opening in Chennai in 2005. The first agreement was made with Sathyam Cinemas for their screens in Royapettah's Express Avenue Mall, but it was not finalized. With the exception of Chennai, IMAX is currently available in every Indian metropolis. In 2018, Bigil movie starring Vijay, was released on IMAX screens, but not in IMAX format. Thus, Ponniyin Selvan, an ambitious project by Mani Ratnam, is the first Tamil movie to be released in IMAX.

On September 30th, Mani Ratnam's epic multi-starrer "Ponniyin Selvan," which is based on the Kalki novel of the same name, will be released internationally in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R Parthiban make up the ensemble cast of "Ponniyin Selvan," also known as "PS-1." The mega-multistarrer also has a top technical crew, including A.R. Rahman, who composed the soundtrack, Ravi Varman, who handled the camera, A. Sreekhar Prasad, who served as the editor, and Thotta Tharani, who handled the production design. The first week of September is when the trailer is anticipated to be unveiled at a major event, mostly on the 6th as per Kollywood words.
