Actor Jayam Ravi, who played the role of Ponniyin Selvan in the blockbuster magnum opus of 'Ponniyin Selvan', has said that he has tested positive for the Covid-19 pandemic. He took to social media and shared the news after which he was flooded with wishes from the fans for a speedy recovery.
On Friday - October 21, Jayam Ravi said that he had contracted the viral infection and requested the people who came in close contact with him get tested. Taking to Twitter, Ravi wrote, "Earlier this evening I tested positive for Covid-19. Following all protocols, I have immediately isolated myself. I sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me to get themselves tested if necessary. Mask up. Stay safe! God bless."
His tweet has drawn wide attention and several fans and fraternities expressed their prayers and wishes for the actor to get a swift recovery. One of the fans wrote, "Alas, our Ponniyin Selvan has got a fever. Where are Poongulazhi and Senthan Amuthan to take our prince to the Buddhist holy site of Sudamani Temple in Nagapattinam? People of Chola country pray to Almighty God for a speedy recovery."
Jayam Ravi has earned quintessential recognition from across and beyond the borders after portraying a key role in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, which continues its successful run in the theatres. Ponniyin Selvan has two parts and while the first part has got released on September 30, the second part will hit the screens in the summer of next year. The movie has broken all the box office records in Tamil Nadu as it is close to grossing Rs 500 crore worldwide within a month.
