Under the guise of waging a political attack, Karnataka BJP president has perhaps gone personal when he was speaking against Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party at an event in a poll-bound state. Known for controversies, Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel has on Monday stirred a new political low when he spoke about why Rahul Gandhi is not getting married.
Karnataka is counting days for its crucial assembly polls where both the national rivals BJP and Congress are preparing for a big clash ahead of the 2024 general elections. Zeroing in the polls, the leaders of both parties are campaigning across the state. Vying to win another term, the ruling BJP is beefing up its attack on the opposition, which has now culminated to shocking personal attacks.
Sparking controversy for yet another time, Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel has taken the people aback with his comments on why Rahul Gandhi is not getting married. Addressing a gathering at Ramanagara during BJP's Vijaya Sankalpa Yatre, Kateel said that Rahul Gandhi is impotent and it was the reason why he is not getting married.
Kateel went on to say that both Rahul Gandhi and former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah were spreading misinformation and asking people not to take Covid vaccine as it could lead to impotency. "Gandhi and Siddharamaiah asked people not to take vaccines. Saying you won't have kids. But, in the night, they took secretly", Kateel added.
Kateel further said that Rahul Gandhi is not getting married because he cannot have kids. As Karnataka is being closely-watched for its upcoming assembly polls, Kateel's comments have made national headlines and triggered a sharp criticism from across the nation. It is pertinent to note that Kateel had last month courted a controversy by appealing to the people to send Tipu Sultan's descendants back home.
Kateel said, "We are devotees of Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman. We offer prayers and obeisance to Lord Hanuman, and we are not Tipu's descendants. Let's send Tipu's descendants back home." Back in January, Kateel asked the BJP workers to focus on issues like 'love jihad' rather than petty issues like road and other problems.
Kateel's remark about Rahul Gandhi has sparked furore within the BJP camp with the saffron party distancing itself from the remark. Speaking about Kateel's remark, senior BJP leader and Karnataka's Health Minister Sudhakar said, "I don't know in what context our president has made that remark but I would like to keep myself away from this comment and I don't want to support this comment."
