While it was reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Tamil Nadu on October 30 to pay his respect for Muthuramalinga Devar during the Devar Jayanti, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has divulged different answer that there has been no such official announcement that the Prime Minister is visiting the state.
Annamalai has arrived in Chennai on Thursday - October 13 after wrapping up his visit to the United States. He was offered a rousing welcome by the BJP cadres in the Chennai airport and while speaking to the reporters, Annamalai negated the reports suggesting that the Prime Minister will visit Tamil Nadu on October 30 to attend the Devar Jayanti.
He said, "Our Prime Minister wishes to visit Tamil Nadu to attend the gurupoojas of every leader. This culture is rampant only in Tamil Nadu. We are celebrating all leaders through festivals and gurupoojas. On October 30, the Devar Jayanti is going to be held in Tamil Nadu and the BJP is taking part in the event. We desire that the Prime Minister must attend these events in Tamil Nadu. However, I don't know how the reports about his visit got surfaced."
"All the prime ministerial visits will be planned two months ago. So, the Prime Minister has no program of visiting Tamil Nadu on October 30. There is no official announcement from the Prime Minister's office that Narendra Modi is visiting the state", Annamalai added. Earlier, it was reported that Modi will visit Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram district to participate in Devar Jayanti.
It was also reported that the Prime Minister is also expected to participate in Gurupuja during the Jayanti and several BJP cadres will also attend the event alongside Narendra Modi. However, Annamalai has asserted that the Prime Minister is not visiting Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will be visiting the memorial and paying their respects to Devar during his Jayanti.
