Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been upgrading his travelling parameters during his second term and after adding an exclusive aircraft 'Air India One' in his transportation fleet, he has now received a brand new car worth Rs 12 crore to his convoy and the latest beast is an addition to the league of the high-secured and luxurious cars. Modi would usually ply in a BMW or in a Range Rover and it's now time for him to board on a bullet-proof Mercedes Benz. 

Mercedes Benz Maybach S650 armoured vehicle has joined Modi's convoy and the Prime Minister was seen travelling in the new car recently at Hyderabad House, Delhi while welcoming Russian President Vladimir Putin. This new model of the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard came out in 2019 and as a recent modification, it has got the VR10 protection level, which is the highest-ever protection provided in a car. Worth Rs 12 crore, Modi's new car is highly secure and has the ability to withstand blasts and bullets. 

This edition of the car was launched in India last year at a price of Rs 10.5 crore and Modi's car has been equipped with the capabilities of confronting bullets from AK-47 rifles. According to reports, it comes with a 2010 Explosion Proof Vehicle (ERV) rating and its occupants are protected from 15 kg TNT explosion from a distance of two meters. The windows have got polycarbonate coating on the inside and the underbody has been armoured to protect the occupants from a direct explosion. 

The cabin of the car has a separate air supply in case of a gas attack and the fuel tank of this edition has been coated with a special material that is skilled to seal the holes by itself after sustaining bullets. His brand new car has been reported as an upgrade to the Range Rover Vogue and the Toyota Land Cruiser that he had been using until the new arrival. The car also gets special run-flat tyres that will continue to function in case of damage or puncture and some of the interior comforts include seat massagers and spacious legroom. 

The Special Protection Group (SPG), which is responsible for Prime Minister's security, has procured this armoured Mercedes Benz and the group has ordered two identical cars, a total of 24 crores, and the second vehicle will be used as a decoy. The features of Modi's brand new car have been similar to the limousines used by the US President. The car has joined Modi's convoy recently and he used it for the first time recently while receiving Russian President Vladimir Putin in Delhi. 

As per the protocol, the SPG will be identifying the security requirements and enhancements of the security for the Prime Minister and decide on whether the vehicle upgrade is imperative. It has decided to upgrade Modi's convoy and placed the order for procuring Mercedes Benz-Maybach S650. The reports say that Narendra Modi's new limousine has become the costliest car ever used by any Indian Prime Minister and it is also the first time that the Prime Minister is using a Mercedes Benz car similar to the Indian President. 

Normally, the Indian President uses a Mercedes Benz S-Class limousine while the Prime Minister uses BMW cars or Range Rovers. As Modi has upgraded his car with state-of-the-art protection, it must be noted that President Ram Nath Kovind had upgraded to the Mercedes Benz S-class Pullman Maybach Guard earlier this year. Modi has over the years been moving to the next level of luxury and he had a Mahindra Scorpio during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and after becoming the Prime Minister, he had moved to a BMW 7 series high-security edition, a Range Rover Vogue, and a Toyota Land Cruiser. He has now got a brand new Mercedes Benz in his convoy.
