For the world of music, it was the darkest day, for the millions of fans, it was an incessant pain, and for the industry, it was an irreplaceable loss as the entire nation has been mourning the demise of phenomenal and legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who passed away on Friday at 1.04 pm in Chennai at the age of 74 due to complications that developed after he tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection.
In a career spanning for over five decades, SP Balasubrahmanyam had touched the hearts of all walks of life and dominated all languages that he has sung through his pleasant, sweet, and heavenly voice and through his immense contribution. Etching his career strongly that would stand high for many more decades, SPB was a magnet who attracted pure love and true respect from millions for whom the singer has become a household name.
Becoming one of the unanticipated demises in 2020, his loss had stuck every household with deep shock, with many still hope that the news of his demise would become false. Leaving millions to brace up that they won't be hearing his pleasant voice anymore, he has breathed his last and nearing for the final journey. Earning pure love and true respect from generations had made him a phenomenon and his demise has brought an end to the era of the musical world, which has now become dark after the shining star had stopped shining and breathing.
From devotional, melody, classic, and romance, he ruled the genres and generations with his intimate tone of singing and smiling face. The 74-year-old singer was hospitalized on August 5 after testing positive for COVID-19 and he had never come out of the hospital. He battled for survival while millions had prayed for to whatever beliefs that had to recover him and make him win the battle. However, his battle and an era come to an end, leaving a grave void. Though he had passed away, his voice would stay perennial, and would motive many generations to come.
While the future generations would be blessed to see his treasured life and contribution, the current generation has been blessed to see his smiling face and precious life that he had gifted to the society. In his entire career, he has sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages has been conferred with Guinness Record , Padma Bhushan, and other national awards.
