Legendary actor Kamal Haasan, who has become more household name through hosting the reality show 'Bigg Boss', has on Sunday announced that he has decided to take a pause from hosting the Bigg Boss Ultimate over what was seen as his conflict of priority. His decision has shocked the fans and the competitors as he was instrumental in the surge of the show in the state. 

In his official statement that came from nowhere, Kamal Haasan has asserted that he will come back for the next season and he is now taking a break owing to the ongoing filming process of his upcoming movie 'Vikram'. By highlighting his avidity of hosting the show, he has penned that it has become impossible for him to manage both 'Vikram' and 'Bigg Boss' together. 

In his statement, the actor-turned-politician said, "The pandemic and the resulting lockdowns and restrictions rightly imposed by the government has created disarray and has constrained us to reschedule the production and post-production of our forthcoming film, Vikram. We had so far meticulously planned to ensure that the production schedule of Vikram does not affect my commitments to Bigg Boss, a show that it so very close to my heart. So much so I did not let any personal discomfort I might have had after I was personally down with Covid. I was back on stage meeting all of you and hosting this wonderful show, the moment I tested negative." 

He penned, "I consider it as an honour bestowed on me to launch the first digital avatar of Bigg Boss. As someone who has always been an avid supporter of innovation and technology in the field of entertainment, I became so passionately involved and attached to Bigg Boss Ultimate. Disney Plus Hotstar has been a pioneer of many such initiatives and innovations. It is a matter of pride for me to be associated as a brand ambassador of Disney Plus Hotstar."

He said, "The reschedule of the production activities for Vikram that we are forced to do on account the lockdown and restrictions imposed, have unavoidably resulted in an overlap of dates required to be allotted for Bigg Boss Ultimate. Considering the fact that some more days of shoot are left to complete the scenes which have the combination of some of the most prominent stars and technicians of the Film industry, it has become practically impossible to manage both Vikram and Bigg Boss together." 

"It would be unfair to make such eminent stars and technicians wait for me, considering their schedule and other commitments that they might already have. Consequently, I am now constrained to opt-out of this season of Bigg Boss Ultimate for the remaining episodes after 20th February. It's a tough call and a difficult one to decide considering the passion I have for Bigg Boss", the actor penned. 

He further said, "I had a free and fair discussion with the management of Vijay TV and as always, the management has been most supportive and cooperative. I am so overwhelmed and touched by their understanding on the constraints resulting out of this pandemic and consequent restrictions forcing me to exit from the remaining episodes of this Bigg Boss Ultimate. Till I meet you again in season 6 of Bigg Boss, my best wishes to you all!!." 

Bigg Boss Ultimate, which is the OTT version, was announced on January 17 and began on air on January 30. The show has brought some of the notable contenders back to the house. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan is busy with the projects of 'Vikram' and 'Indian 2'. While Vikram is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan under his own banner of Raaj Kamal Films International, it is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It has been made as an action thriller film and the movie team is in the process of completing the pending works with an aim of releasing the movie in April. 

While Kamal Haasan plays the lead role, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Antony Varghese, Arjun Das, and Shivani Narayanan play important roles. Anirudh has composed the music and the team has begun the shooting in July 2021 and it has been reported that the team has planned to release the movie most likely on 31st March 2022.
