The action thriller Pathu Thala, starring Silambarasan and Gautham Karthik, has emerged as a blockbuster at the box office, earning over Rs 55 crores in its first week of release. The film, which is a remake of the Kannada hit Mufti, has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for its gripping story, stellar performances and chartbuster music by AR Rahman.

Studio Green, the production house behind Pathu Thala, has expressed its gratitude to Silambarasan’s fans and the general audience for their overwhelming support to the film. In a statement released on Friday, the banner said, “Our film Pathu Thala today entered 2nd week in over 300 screens in Tamil Nadu and across the globe in over 500 screens,"

"It gives us great happiness to see our film getting such a raving response from audience and we wish to thank whole-heartedly the fans of Silambarasan (STR) and the general audience for this support to our film. We also wish to thank reviewers and media for their phenomenal encouragement, which boosted the film’s appeal.”

The statement further added that Pathu Thala has earned one of the highest revenues in Silambarasan’s career and became a hugely profitable venture for their production. They also thanked Silambarasan for being a part of this film and helping them to achieve this success through his wonderful support, especially during the audio launch event and other promotions, which created a sensation and helped the film in many ways.

The production house also acknowledged the contributions of AR Rahman, who gave them chartbuster songs despite his busy schedules, director Obeli N Krishna, who maintained his enthusiasm throughout the three-year journey of the film and delivered a quality commercial entertainer, and the rest of the cast and crew who worked hard to make Pathu Thala a memorable experience for the viewers.

They also mentioned a special thanks for Sayeesha Saigal, saying that she “Saigal deserves a special mention for her last minute contribution through the song 'Raawadi...' which became a huge hit with her moves.” Pathu Thala is a story of an undercover cop who infiltrates the gang of a ruthless underworld don AGR, played by Silambarasan. Gautham Karthik plays the cop, while Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gautham Menon and Kalaiyarasan play supporting roles. The film is expected to continue its strong run at the box office in its second week as well.
