50 % quota in the admission for postgraduate super-specialty (DM/MCh) medical courses in government colleges and postgraduate courses (MD, MS, and MDS) within the state quota for the academic year 2020-21., Tamil Nadu Government officially informed at Chennai High Court.
Government doctors M. Bakrudeen and G. Kumaravel had filed a case in the Chennai High Court, by following the Supreme Court order, seeking an order to allocate 50 percent seats in medical postgraduate courses such as super specialty and diploma to government doctors in the current academic year.
When this case came under Judge Venkatesh, the petitioners argued that 50 % seats should be allotted to government doctors for these courses, as the Supreme Court had recently ordered that the state governments have the power to provide appropriate reservation in medical masters and diploma special courses for government doctors.
Afterward, The Central Government has said that order should not be issued till then as the case is pending in the Supreme Court.
To give a response for this, Senior Advocate Wilson, appeared for the petitioner, who objected to the federal argument, argued that the case pending in the Supreme Court had nothing to do with this case.
In addition to this, Attorney General Vijay Narayan, appearing for the Tamil Nadu government, filed the order in the court, claiming that the decision to grant the reservation had been issued on the past 7th of November.
Denying to accept the Central government's statement, the judges documented the Tamil Nadu government's position and hailed the case to be closed.
