The Opposition party of the state of Tamil Nadu DMK has announced that the party would be holding a parade across the state on December 23rd to stress the Central government to revoke the amended Citizenship Act in what it can be reported as the second bullet that would be triggered by the opposition party against the bill days after gunning the first bullet through hosting a district-wise protests across the state on Tuesday to urge the Center to annul the enacted law.
On Wednesday, DMK president and state's opposition leader M K Stalin had said that the party had decided to hold a parade against the Act in Chennai on December 23rd, Monday. While addressing the reporters after concluding the all-party meeting at the party's headquarters in Chennai, Stalin cited that the meeting with the allied party leaders had proposed to organize a parade to demand the abrogation of the amended act.
By picturing the all-party meet in his official Twitter handle, Stalin has placed the request and invited the leaders of all political parties, students and the public to take part in the parade. Earlier while hosting the district-wise protests, Stalin had fiercely accused the Center of proposing the biased amendment and the ADMK led state government for voting in favor of the bill in Rajya Sabha. He further asked the Center on the reason behind ignoring the Rohingya Muslims and the Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who are not entitled to apply for Indian citizenship.
DMK President stated that by supporting the bill, ADMK and its allied party PMK had reportedly betrayed the Muslims and Sri Lankan Tamils. By rebutting the accusations and by backing the Act, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi Palaniswami claimed that no Indian would be affected by the amended Citizenship Act and accused Stalin that the DMK had failed to take any action on granting the citizenship for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees when the party was in power for 13 years at the Center, along with the Congress party.
Similarly, Chief of Makkal Needhi Maiam Kamal Haasan has become one of the strongest critics of the bill from the state of Tamil Nadu and while addressing the reporters on Tuesday about his notion on the heating and aberrant developments, Haasan accused the ruling party of Tamil Nadu ADMK to back and to clear the bill in the Rajya Sabha by betraying the Tamils and the nation. By blaming the ADMK for dancing to the tunes of the BJP, he stated that the ruling party of the state is obedient to its masters.
His comments come a day after his party had filed a petition in the Apex court against the amendment and he further stated that, by challenging the amendment of Citizenship Bill, his party would be lifting the batons against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He asserted that if the Central government implement NRC nation-wide, his party would spur the legal battle and the party would ensure to keep moving as far as it can go.
