Bala Singh, one of the veteran actors in the Tamil cinema industry who appeared in more than a hundred movies, has passed away at a private hospital in Chennai in the wee hours of Wednesday at the age of 67.
The 67-year-old actor was receiving treatment for food poison for the past few days in the hospital and he was declared dead at 1.00 am. The notable actor has appeared on the screens of Malayalam and Tamil movies. Bala Singh, after getting trained at the National School of Drama, began his acting career as a theater artist and it was his role in Nassar's directorial debut movie 'Avatharam', had put him on the spotlight by bringing more attention. His role as Bassi, the antagonist in the movie had seeded his growth in the Tamil movie industry after which he joined hands with mega actors and directors in their movies that had cemented his career to the next level.
In 1996, he was webbed into the movie 'Indian' starring Kamal Haasan and he played notable roles in the movies like Dheena, Virumaandi, Saamy, Ullaasam, Kannathil Muthamittal. He again proved his place in Tamil cinema through his role of Anbu in Dhanush starred 'Pudhupettai' the gangster movie that was directed by Selvaraghavan.
He was active in the industry till this year where he acted in Suriya's movie 'NGK' and his last movie was 'Magamuni' directed by Santhakumar that hit the screens this year. Apart from acting in big screens, he appeared in popular television serials through which he lived in every home.
His body was moved to his residence in Virugambakkam, Chennai for paying respect and homage till evening and it will be transported to his hometown of Nagercoil for final rituals.
