Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of the world leaders who has been active on digital platforms and has been reaping followers on a larger scale, sometimes far more than any of his global counterparts, like the milestone that he achieved on Tuesday - February 1, 2022. His Youtube channel has on Tuesday crossed 1 crore subscriptions and he has become the most followed world leader on YouTube.
Narendra Modi has launched his YouTube channel in October 2007 while he was serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. His channel has garnered over 164.31 crore views so far. Following Modi, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has come second with a total of 36 lakh subscribers for his YouTube channel, followed by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador with 30.7 lakh subscribers, Indonesian President Joko Widodo with 28.8 lakh subscribers, and the White House with 19 lakh followers.
US President Joe Biden has 7.03 lakh subscribers and besides YouTube, Narendra Modi is very active on social media platforms. He has over 75 million followers on Twitter with former US President Barack Obama being the most followed person on Twitter with over 130 million followers. As Modi counts more subscriptions, several Indian leaders find themselves training behind the Prime Minister in the digital world.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has 5.25 lakh subscribers for his YouTube while his fellow party leader Shashi Tharoor has 4.39 lakh subscribers. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has 3.73 lakh subscribers while Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has 2.12 lakh subscribers, followed by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia with 1.37 lakh subscribers.
