Derailing ADMK leader O Panneerselvam's (OPS) mother Palaniammal Nachiyar has passed away on Friday at the age of 95 due to age-related ailments. Several political leaders including Chief Minister MK Stalin have paid tribute, but OPS's arch-rival Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) is yet to come out with his condolence. For OPS whose political career is getting smashed, the demise of his mother had poured a sense of melancholy.

OPS's mother Palaniammal Nachiyar had breather her last at her hometown Theni. She was admitted to a private hospital in Theni earlier this week due to age-related ailments. She was administered with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) treatment. However, her health condition didn't respond to the treatment and later, she was shifted to her residence in Periyakulam. 

She passed away on Friday night and her last rites will be held on Saturday - February 25. OPS was in Chennai when he was informed about the passing of his mother. He immediately rushed to his hometown and as visuals had shown, he broke down into tears as he bid a farewell to his mother. She is survived by three children including OPS and O Raja. 

Several political leaders with different ideologies came together to stand with OPS at this time of grief. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin tweeted, "I am deeply saddened to know that former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam's mother Palaniammal has passed away due to ill health. I offer my deepest condolences to Panneerselvam who is suffering from the loss of his mother." 

Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai had spoken with OPS and his family after learning about the demise of Palaniammal. He later took to Twitter and wrote, "I am praying to the God that his mother's soul rests in peace." MDMK leader Vaiko, BJP leader and Union Minister of State L Murugan, and Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan have offered their condolences. 

PMK President and Rajya Sabha MP Anbumani Ramadoss took to Twitter and wrote, "I am saddened to know that former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam's mother Palaniammal has passed away due to old age. Deepest condolences and sympathy to Panneerselvam and family." On the other hand, OPS's political foe EPS hasn't reacted to the demise of Palaniammal amidst growing feudatory.
