Actor Dulquer Salmaan has put out a shocking tweet that he has tested positive for the Covid-19 pandemic and that he has isolated himself in his home. Incidentally, he has tested positive days after his father and veteran actor Mammootty has contracted the viral infection. Several fans and well-wishers have been expressing their wishes for a speedy recovery as the father-son battle the pandemic.
On Thursday- January 20, Dulquer Salmaan has issued a statement on Twitter in which he informed that he had contracted the pandemic. He wrote, "I have just tested positive for Covid19. I'm isolating at home and have mild flu symptoms but am otherwise ok. People who were in close contact with me during shoots over the last few days, please isolate and test if you notice symptoms."
"This pandemic is not over and we must stay vigilant. Please mask up and stay safe", he added. Recently, his father Mammootty had tested positive for Covid-19. The legendary actor posted on social media that he had a light fever and was under home isolation. Mammootty wrote on January 16, "Despite taking all the necessary precautions I have tested Covid positive yesterday."
He further said, "Besides a light fever I am otherwise fine. I am self-isolating at home as per the directions of the concerned authorities. I wish for all of you to stay safe. Mask at all times and take care." On the work front, Dulquer Salmaan was expecting the release of his much-awaited movie 'Salute' in which he played the role of a police officer. However, the movie release was deferred in light of the soaring Covid spread.
Salute is helmed by Rosshan Andrews and informing the postponement of the movie's release, Dulquer said, "Owing to recent developments and the spike in Covid-19 and Omicron cases, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the release of Salute. We apologize if we've disappointed you. But in times like this, we must prioritise health and safety."
He has been gearing up for the release of another movie 'Hey Sinamika' in which he played the lead role. The movie is directed by choreographer-turned-director Brindha Gopal. Bankrolled by Jio Studios, the movie has Aditi Rao Hydari and Kajal Aggarwal in important roles. It has been slated for a theatrical release on February 25.
