Political grounds in India is neither new for dynasty politics nor it will end the game of heir sworn in ceremony and the recent one to get added in such dynasty game is Udayanithi Stalin, the son of DMK President M K Stalin and the grandson of five times chief minister of the state of Tamilnadu Kalaignar Karunanidhi.
DMK, the third largest party in the current Parliament, is one of the hundreds of top political parties which had revealed its two different faces to keep the track of flagging next generations and the reality picture is that DMK had seen the heirs and families of Central leadership getting elevated to the party's top spots regardless of their level of political expertise. They have been put up to the top spots just because they belong to one family and to keep the track alive of handing over the throne to their immediate sons or daughters.
The party leadership has denied multiple times over the rise of dynasty politics and the current chief M K Stalin, who gained the throne of thorns after his father Kalaignar Karunanidhi had expired, had many times denied the family politics accusations. The political pictures had changed after DMK led alliance in Tamilnadu had swept massive victory in 2019 Lok Sabha elections - Indian politics won't give surprises of changing the pictures, policies and directing the scenes as it has become usual to pitch in the campaign trail with the books of accusations, promises and manifestos to count their votes and trashing up the policies, promises after gaining victory. After flagging its victory in most of the constituencies, DMK chief Stalin had gained more confidence to name Udayanithi Stalin as the new general secretary of DMK's Youth wing, the post Stalin had held for nearly three decades.
By keeping the accusations and critics aside, as planned and as directed, Udayanithi Stalin, 41 years old, had been unanimously elected as the new chief of party's powerful youth wing, which the leadership had justified that the district units of the party had passed resolutions to name Udayanithi as next chief of youth wing.
The party had again spotted in the limelight after, on one hand, flagging family politics, and on the other hand, denying it. Most of the districts' youth wings in the party had hailed and welcomed the decision of passing the baton to Udayanithi stalin, who was seen and involved in real time and on ground politics not so long, had came to the top spot just because he is the son of the current DMK chief- The history repeats - the scenes had recapped without having grained up.
After having been assumed to one of the party's top spot, he had hosted the meet with state level and district level youth wing cadres for the first time since he took office of Secretary of DMK's Youth wing, two days back in a star hotel in Guindy - DMK has separate offices and halls to convene the meeting in its head office.
Taking the podium with the identity of full time politician, he addressed the hall that the youth wing had set a target with the determination of increasing the membership of the wing and had asked his party men to work towards gaining the youth membership where each assembly constituency must have the enrollments of not less than 10,000 youths in the wing on or before November 14th, 2019. For the first time as the secretary, he also proposed changes in the existing terms and policies where he announced that the minimum age to join the youth wing was raised from 15 to 18 whereas the maximum age limit to join the youth wing has been changed to 35 years, which previously had limited to 30 years - We have to note that Udayanithi has crossed his 40's..We leave it for your speculations on this controversial theory of politics.
He took the stage to accuse the BJP led Central government for trying to divide and rule the state of Tamilnadu after it had failed in its efforts of cementing the strong base in the state even after winning the 2019 elections. He also asked the members to concentrate towards having concrete plans and actions on cleaning the environment by removing the plastics and he further proclaimed that the cleaning work of water bodies will commence from Karunanidhi's native village in Tiruvarur district.
In the middle of the meet, he attempted to rebut the accusations of family politics that has been painted on DMK by clicking the group selfie with the party cadres and mentioned that as family politics as they belong to one family of DMK. Interestingly, some of the faces which smiled in the photo had the base of family politics as they have been put up to the same post which had transferred from their father or mother.
By clicking selfie with the youth wing members with most of them having been filled the chairs from their families, Does Stalin's heir and Karunanidhi's grandson is attempting to pay the rebuttals to the opposition parties by claiming that everyone belongs to same family or is he trying to picture the proclamation that despite of critics, the family politics will stay and will be followed by denying the right of every party men?
The row of reserving the chairs and thrones to their family alone, DMK, the opposition party in Tamilnadu Legislative assembly and third largest party of Parliament has been living with different face and voice on the family politics and Udayanithi stalin is the latest example which was sent to the party men, who have been in the party for many decades, that don't ever think or imagine of getting elevated to the top spot- as its been already reserved for the houseful of heirs.
Udayanithi stalin's elevation has oiled the controversies of flagging the dynasty politics in the democratic country. Finally, the political batons gets passed only to the heirs and so is the battle, so is the throne, so is the power and so is the hope of ensuring that the party lies under one family.
