In what has become a shocking development, CSK's opening batsman Shane Watson has taken a call and announced that he will be retiring from franchise cricket, and his decision has come after CSK had ended its campaign with the dramatic victory against the Kings XI Punjab. 

The decision has been headlined when the current season of the IPL has been at a final stage. Leaving the CSK fans in shock as they won't be witnessing that 'Watto' delights and classy anymore, they have been taking to social media and have been sharing his cricketing memories in the IPL and commending his contribution to the Indian Premier League and bracing up to the fact that Watson won't be in the Men in Yellow squad. 

CSK had spoiled the dream of Kings XI Punjab in entering the playoffs and when Dhoni's army has been celebrating the relishing end of the campaign, the CSK teammates were shocked when they heard from Watson that he had taken a call of retirement. According to reports close to the developments, Shane Watson told his CSK mates that he would retire from all forms of cricket. 

A news agency said that veteran Aussie cricketer Shane Watson was emotional when he told the CSK teammates in the dressing room after the match against Punjab that he would retire from all forms of cricket. He stated that it was a great privilege for him to play for the franchise. The reports say that Watson had already retired from International Cricket in 2018 and he was bought by the CSK in the same year. 

Watson was one of the crucial picks for CSK and in 2018, his unbeaten century in the IPL Final had helped the men in yellow to win the title for the third time. Before being inducted by the CSK, Watson had played for Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore and he had etched his contribution strongly in the Indian Premier League. In 2008, when Watson played in RR, he played an important role in advancing the Royals to lift the first IPL title and he has been one of the remarkable overseas players in the IPL. 

The 39-year-old cricketer had played 59 Tests, 190 ODIs, and 58 T20s at the international level and he had played a total of 145 IPL games of which 43 matches were for the Chennai Super Kings. He has been one of the most celebrated allrounders in the IPL and Watson had a difficult season in the current edition of IPL as the CSK hadn't performed well. Watson took the blame initially for the flawed opening partnership, however, he had managed to resurge. 

Shane Watson had played 11 games this season and scored 299 runs with the help of two fifties. The Aussie had maintained an intimate relationship with CSK skipper MS Dhoni, which Watson had many times expressed his gratitude to the captain cool. Shane Watson retires from the IPL by scoring 3,874 runs at an average of 30.99 with the help of four centuries and 21 fifties.
