As Udhayanidhi Stalin has begun his new political journey as a minister, he has made a big announcement that he will end his career in acting and that he won't be taking up any new projects owning to his new job as a cabinet minister. However, our sources say his production banner Red Giant Movies would continue its cinema venture.
Udhayanidhi Stalin took oath as a Tamil Nadu Minister on Wednesday - December 14 and the oath was administered by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi in a ceremony that was held at Raj Bhavan. As he has become a minister in his very first term as an MLA, Udhayanidhi has been awarded with important portfolios - Special Programme Implementation and Youth Welfare and Sports Development.
45-year-old Udhayanidhi Stalin plunged into politics amidst a busy career in the Tamil movie industry. Besides acting in movies, he was also producing and distributing the movies and the volume of the movies produced and distributed by his banner had increased gradually in recent times, which made him a powerhouse in the movie industry.
He entered the assembly as an MLA for the first time after triumphing in the 2021 assembly polls and his victory has also sparked debates on when he will become a minister. As months passed, Tamil Nadu witnessed the demands to appoint Udhayanidhi as a minister and in several interviews recently, Udhayanidhi said that he will quit acting in the movies to concentrate completely on politics.
His response stirred a notion that he would put an end to acting in the movies after becoming a minister. Now, as Udhayanidhi has become a Tamil Nadu minister, he has officially announced that he won't be acting in the movies. Addressing the reporters after taking oath, Udhayanidhi made this announcement and said that his current project 'Maamannan' directed by Mari Selvaraj will be his last movie.
He further announced that he will leave from the project which will be bankrolled by Kamal Haasan. Months back, Kamal Haasan announced that his banner Raaj Kamal Films International will produce a movie in which Udhayanidhi will play the lead role. In an earlier interview, Udhayanidhi divulged that he has decided to stop acting and since Kamal Haasan has asked him to act in his project, the DMK MLA stated that he may pursue the project.
However, as he has now become a minister, Udhayanidhi has announced that he will leave from Kamal Haasan's project. His announcement has turned heads in the midst of celebrations rolled out by the party to welcome Udhayanidhi as a minister. He has acted in a dozen of movies including 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi', 'Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal', 'Gethu', 'Manithan', 'Nimir', 'Psycho', 'Nenjuku Needhi', and 'Kalaga Thalaivan'.
