'No merger with BJP'- asserts the leader of Tamil Nadu regional party!

Amidst the row of speculations that Tamil Nadu's regional party, Tamil Maanila Congress would become a part of BJP's state wing in Tamil Nadu with the view of cementing strong base for the central ruling party in the state, the founder of TMC party G K Vasan has denied that there were no talks of merger.

While addressing the reporters in Delhi after concluding his meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that lasted for about forty minutes in Prime Minister's residence, G K Vasan has said that his party would be functioning independently without any mergers. While claiming that the merger talks with BJP are false, he asserted that Tamil Maanila Congress will record huge victories in the state's local body elections and the state legislative elections in 2021.

He stated that his party has gained respect in Tamil Nadu and underlined that the party will contest in local body elections by observing alliance with the state's ruling ADMK party. While questioned about the details of meeting the Prime Minister, Vasan pointed out that this was a courtesy visit and added that he had tabled the issues in Tamil Nadu to the Prime Minister in the areas of education, agriculture, language, and employment.

While the speculations of the merger were dismissed by Vasan, there is the other unofficial talks on social media which say the Vasan would possibly be named as the next chief of Tamil Nadu's BJP unit as the position remains vacant for over months after the then chief of state's BJP wing Tamilisai Soundararajan has assumed the office of Governor of Telangana. The sources from the state's BJP have claimed that Vasan won't be awarded the party's chief in the state even though he merges with the BJP.

Tamil Maanila Congress in one among many state parties who allied with AIADMK party, in which national party BJP was a part, during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and after losing the seats in the state of Tamil Nadu, the BJP has asked Vasan's Tamil Maanila Congress to become a part of the state's wing to strengthen the base of the party in the state of Tamil Nadu.
