Amid having been temporarily suspended from the DMK party for breaching the party's protocol by meeting the BJP National leaders in Delhi, dissented DMK leader Ku Ka Selvam has called out the fellow party members of Stalin's camp to join the BJP party by claiming that there was no future for the functionaries who are above 55 years in the Dravidian party.
Hours after Stalin suspended the dissented leader on Wednesday, Ku Ka Selvam took part in the function organized by Tamil Nadu BJP unit to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya and through his participation, he has displayed his full dissent against the DMK and signaled that he would join the saffron party.
While addressing the reporters at the Kamalalayam, the headquarters of Tamil Nadu BJP, Ku Ka Selvam has called the fellow DMK members to quit the party and join BJP as the functionaries above 55 years of age have no future in the DMK and he went on to challenge DMK President MK Stalin to remove him from the party. He further stated that those who continue to stay in DMK should be ready to suffer.
He added that he became MLA to serve the people of the constituency and not to listen to Stalin's family. By accusing the DMK of dynastic politics and one family's role, Selvam expressed his disappointment for not being given the post of district secretary of Chennai west district, which was previously held by J Anbalagan, who died of COVID-19 viral infection on June 10.
According to the reports, the post was given to the DMK Youth wing member who is close to Stalin's son Udayanidhi Stalin. After being dissented, Selvam had met BJP National President JP Nadda in Delhi on Tuesday and it was speculated that he is going to join BJP. However, he denied joining BJP and claimed that he came to Delhi to move his petition of installing two elevators at the Nungambakkam Railway station, which comes under his constituency, to Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
However, on Wednesday, DMK President Stalin has temporarily suspended Selvam from the party for violating the party discipline by meeting the BJP leaders. Stalin has issued a show-cause notice to Selvam asking him to respond to why he should not be expelled from the party's primary membership. While responding to the question regarding the notice on Wednesday, Selvam said the DMK can expel him if the party has guts.
After meeting the BJP leaders in Delhi, Selvam lauded Modi's governance and thanked his efforts to construct the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He went on to urge the DMK leadership to revoke the alliance with the Congress party which is blocking Modi's good governance. He demanded Stalin to voice against the responsible people who made derogatory remarks about Lord Murugan and the Hindu Devotional Song 'Kandha Sashti Kavacham'.
