After having been blocked at the Kerala border for not possessing the e-pass to enter the state, a groom from Tamil Nadu and a bride from Kerala had got married in the check post at the border showing that even the check post is a good venue to tie the knot.
The betrothal couple has decided to marry at the check post after the groom couldn't able to get the e-pass to travel to Kerala where the wedding ceremony was officially scheduled. According to the reports, groom Prashanth hails from Cumbum, Theni district in Tamil Nadu while bride Gayathri belongs to Kottayam in Kerala.
The wedding was scheduled on Monday morning at a temple in Vandiperiyar Valaradi in Idukki district, Kerala and the groom and his family, who resides close to the border, had taken a cab to reach Kerala without availing the e-pass to enter the state. However, when they arrived at the Kumili border check post, the Kerala state police hasn't permitted the entry to the groom and his family further to the state.
Upon restricted at the border, the groom reached out to the bride and her family to let them know the situation and the bride, who had already reached the marriage venue, came with her parents and some of her relatives to the Kumili check post and spoken with the police to permit the groom to enter the state for marriage. The Kerala police stood at their notion and denied entry for the groom and his family.
The reports stated that the Kumili police inspector has suggested conducting the wedding at the check post. Having been left with less time to hit the scheduled time for marriage, both families have agreed and the police had permitted the bride's family to enter Tamil Nadu following which the groom tied the knot before the closed shop at the check post and the newly weds had exchanged garlands.
After marrying at the unusual venue, the newly weds were greeted and blessed by the families, police personnel, and officials at the check post after which they drove back to their respective homes. In a different incident in Tamil Nadu's Salem district, the couple had been kept under quarantine after getting married. They have been advised to stay under quarantine for 28 days in their respective houses after the bride tested positive for COVID-19.
