Vijayawada city police issued guidelines which said that all sorts of public gatherings and celebrations are prohibited by considering the new variant of Covid-19 spread. 

City Police Commissioner Battina Srinivasan said in a press release, that all wine shops will be closed by 8 pm on Thursday. They also made it clear that they would not sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 21,  and restaurants will remain open till 11 pm and no ceremonies could be held in hotels, function halls, and other institutions. Businesses and commercial shops in the city were ordered to close by 10pm on the 31st of this month. 

Vijayawada locals were unexpectedly astounded by the news. They were advised to celebrate this new year with their family at home.
