With the new promise to enhance BJP in TN, former IPS Officer Annamalai has joined BJP!

With the new promise of strengthening the BJP's base in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2021 assembly polls, former Indian Police Service Officer Annamalai Kuppusamy, who belongs to Tamil Nadu, had joined the BJP on Tuesday as he has prepared for the second innings on the political groups.

Annamalai had joined BJP in the presence of BJP National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao in New Delhi and the police turned politician was also accompanied by Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan. Upon attaching himself to the saffron camp, he said he would be working towards strengthening the BJP in Tamil Nadu, as the state gears up for the legislative elections in 2021.

After joining the Central ruling party, the former police officer began his speech by highlighting Thirukkural and said that the classic Tamil language text speaks about the four qualities- courage, spirit, knowledge, and fearlessness and Annamalai attributed all these qualities to Prime Minister Modi and said he sees all four of these qualities in Honorable Prime Minister Modi and all the national leaders of the BJP.

He stated that he would be strengthening the movement and he will work towards bringing the nationalist spirit to Tamil Nadu. His political innings through BJP had come when he was speculated that he would be making his political stint and he has been backing the BJP and expressed his admiration to the Prime Minister in several interviews that he gave to the media.

Being nicknamed as 'Singam' of Karnataka police, he quitted the police service in May 2019 and following his resignation, he went to his village for the development of agriculture and education and while he was surfaced with speculations on politics, he said he had considered various options in politics and decided to join BJP as his first step in electoral politics.

According to the reports, Annamalai's announcement of joining BJP has come months ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly polls and the Central ruling party would make use of his induction to enhance its base in the southern state, where the Modi wave finds tough to withstand against the Dravidian storm. With the aberrant developments in the alliance and the back to back controversies, the BJP would have tough elections and the reports stated that Annamalai would work either based in Chennai or Coimbatore for the BJP ahead of the state assembly polls.

Annamalai is a native of Karur, Tamil Nadu. He has graduated from PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore and the Indian Institute of Management in Lucknow. He was a 2011 batch IPS officer and was appointed as the assistant superintendent of police in Udupi district, Karnataka in 2013 and he was then promoted to SP of the same district on January 1, 2015. He had been known as 'Singam' of Udupi for his reputation that he earned over taking actions against the criminal activities.
