New Details: How the police confirmed that a body found was a TN woman who went missing from Isha Yoga centre?

Nearly a fortnight after 34-year-old Subashree went missing, her was recovered by the police on Sunday - January 1. The development into what became yet another controversial event surrounding Isha Yoga Centre has shocked the state and sparked a public outcry. Subashree went to the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore on December 11 to attend a week-long 'silence' yoga class.

She was staying at the centre for a week and on December 18, her husband Palanikumar (40) went to the yoga centre to take his wife home. When he reached the centre, he was told by the centre staff that everyone had left the centre in the morning. Shocked to know that his wife Subashree was not there at the centre, he checked the footage of CCTV camera, that was placed at the reception of the centre, to look what had unfolded.

The couple had been residing in Avinashi, Tirupur and analysying the CCTV footage, Palanikumar had seen his wife walking out of the centre, donning a yoga dresss, running and boarding a car at around 9.30 am on December 18. Based on the footage, Palanikumar reached out to the police and lodged a complaint that his wife was missing. In his complaint, Palanikumar said, "I dropped my wife at the Isha Yoga Centre on December 11 at 6 am. After a week, I again went to pick my wife on Decemer 18. However, the staff at the centre informed me that after finishing the class, everyone has left."

Palanikumar further said, "When I saw the CCTV footage, Subashree was seen walking out of the centre and boarding a car. Later, I got a missed call from an unknown number and when I rang back, a person who spoke from the other end, said that 'a woman had asked for a phone to talk to her husband. However, as the call was not attended, she gave the phone back and left'. I don't know where my life had gone and she was no where to be found. I request you to take action and locate my wife."

The police had filed a case and launched the probe into finding Subashree. Amidst drawing more attention on the event, the police have formed special teams to expedite the probe. During the probe, Isha Yoga Centre had come under scrutiny over the disappearance of a woman and a fortnight after Subashree went missing, the police had recovered her body on Sunday.

According to reports, the Coimbatore police found Subashree's body in a well in Semmedu which is about five kilometres away from the yoga centre. This abandoned well was on an agricultural land and on how police have confirmed that it was Subashree, our sources say that Palanikumar confirmed that it was Subashree's body based on a snakeheaded copper ring that she wore on her finger and this styled-ring would normally be donned by the followers of Isha Yoga.

The police recovered the body and sent it to the Coimbatore Medical College to perform an autopsy and the result, which would throw more light on what had happened, is awaited. The autopsy report would determine the further probe. Subashree was working as a computer operator in Tiruppur while Palanikumar works as a quality inspector in a manufacturing company in the same district and the couple have a 13-year-old daughter.
