Nepal's claim of 'Lord Ram' has shocked BJP- How PM Oli sparked fresh controversy?

Amid the simmering tensions at the border over the new cartographic assertion by demarcating parts of India in its newly incorporated map, Nepal has thrown bombshell towards India after claiming that Lord Ram is a Nepali and Real Ayodhya is in Nepal. The statement from the Nepalese Prime Minister has sparked fresh controversy and fueled the ongoing tensions between what had been known as the friendly bilateral relations observed by two countries.

Nepal's Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli has, on Monday, shocked India's ruling party that Lord Ram was born in Thori in southern Nepal. KP Sharma Oli was addressing the event that marked the birth anniversary of Nepalese Poet Bhanubhakta in his official residence in Kathmandu on Monday. While speaking the about, he avowed his assertion that his country has the real Ayodhya and Lord Ram is a Nepali.

Modi's Nepalese counterpart said India has claimed the Indian site of Ayodhya as the birthplace of Lord Ram despite the real Ayodhya lies at Thori in the west of Birgunj, Nepal. He went on to say that Nepal believes that deity Sita got married to Prince Ram of India and while Ayodhya lies in the west of Birgunj, Nepal, the marriage between Sita and Ram at such a distance was not possible during that time which neither had communications nor transportation platforms.

By claiming that Nepal's culture has got encroached and its history has been manipulated, KP Sharma Oli stated that King Dasharath was the ruler of Nepal through which it can be known that his son Ram was naturally born in Nepal, not in India and added that real Ayodhya and Valmiki Ashram lie in Nepal.

Following his unjustified assertion, it has created massive outrage and controversy across India as most criticized his statements and some trolled his assertions in social media. The Central ruling party has strongly condemned Oli's remarks on Lord Ram and Ayodhya. BJP's National Spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri said that the left parties in India have played with people's faith and people rejected them and such parties in Nepal will also get rejected.

He further stated that Lord Ram is a matter of faith in India and people will not let anyone play with this matter, even if it is the Prime Minister of Nepal or anyone. According to the reports, Nepalese Poet Bhanubhakta is credited for translating Valmiki's Ramayan into the Nepalese language.

KP Sharma Oli's statement has come amid the fierce opposition he has been facing in his country - which has a majority of the population following Hinduism. The Nepal Communist Party has been demanding him to step down from the post of Prime Minister over his governance. Recently, India -Nepal relations had taken a bitter turn when India inaugurated an 80-km-long road connecting the Lipulekh pass with Dharchula in Uttarkhand on May 8, and Nepal claimed that the constructed road passe through its territory.

Amid the denial from India, Nepal has then released a cartographic assertion in which it has incorporated three strategically important areas of India in its new map, which the country updated through a constitutional amendment. While his remarks have surfaced more criticisms and controversy, KP Sharma Oli has been trolled in the social media pages by stating that he will claim the entire world and all planets are Nepal.
