Superstar turned 72 on December 12 2022 and in celebration, fans worldwide took to social media to send him warm well wishes. After receiving showers of birthday greetings from fans and Kollywood, Rajinikanth wrote a sincere thank note to each and every one of them.

Taking to Twitter, the maverick actor shared a long written note which reads, "To all my well-wishers and friends who have wished me on my birthday from the Indian film fraternity, sports, business, and all other fields of work... to all political leaders and friends from different states... to all the loving hearts from the public and society... to my dear fans all over the world and to the people of Tamil Nadu... My Heartfelt Thanks!!!".

Furtherly, he also individually thanked political leaders including Edappadi Palaniswami, O. Panneerselvam and film industry personalities including Kamal Haasan, Ilayaraja, Vairamuthu, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Khan, Udayanidhi Stalin. Also, Rajinikanth mentioned that thanks to everyone like Sachin from the sports industry and fans.

The actor is currently shooting for Nelson Dhilipkumar's Jailer, which also stars  Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu and Vinayakan in pivotal roles. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by R Nirmal. Jailer will release in the summer of 2023.
