In the midst of the worsening leadership tussle between the top two leaders of ADMK Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palaniswami, ADMK's expelled General Secretary VK Sasikala is all set for a political roadshow around Chennai even as a pack of ADMK cadres has been expecting her reentry and to recoup the control of the party.
VK Sasikala's prospective political reentry has been in the spotlight since she completed her incarceration and though she has iterated that she won't enter politics during the 2021 assembly polls, she has been getting in touch with the ADMK cadres for a long time and in her outreach, she had asserted that she is preparing for a comeback and pitched for a united ADMK. Last month, Sasikala hinted at her political comeback and that she has been waiting for the right time.
Within a month, the time is here as the current leadership of the ADMK is inching closer to yet another revolt in the party and the signs are clearly visible that it would split into two as the party's future appears to be its past, about five years ago. As both Panneerselvam and Palaniswami are waging a war to win the baton of unitary leadership with all eyes on the party over the next scene of the drama, VK Sasikala is now coming into the picture.
While both the leaders are locking horns over the July 11 General Council meeting of the party, VK Sasikala, who was the girl Friday for Jayalalithaa, has announced that she will be rolling out a political roadshow in the coming days. In an official release, she has said she will be going on a revolutionary tour around Chennai from June 26 to defend the rights of Tamil soil and the dignity of women. She made her announcement on Friday- June 24, a day after ADMK's first round of General Council meeting.
It has been reported that during her roadshow, Sasikala will be meeting the general public at various points and will interact with them. She will begin her tour from her residence in T Nagar on June 26 at 12.30 pm and she will be travelling to Koyambedu, Poonamallee, Thirutani, Koramangala, KG Kandigai, Krishnakuppam, and Ramkrishna Rajapet. She will then be reaching her residence.
She has said that this trip is to propagate the deeds of party supremos MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa. Her statement has spurred a fresh debate amid the growing tensions in the ADMK and in the wake of worsening leadership tussle and widening rift in the ADMK, the talks about Sasikala's political comeback have emerged after Panneerselvam had met with key supporters of Sasikala. During her roadshow, Sasikala will be testing the wave of support to her in Chennai among the public and based on which, she would be deciding the further course of action.
