'Modi wants people to have religious freedom' - asserts Donald Trump!

US President Donald Trump is in his third and final leg of the Indian tour and on Tuesday, after concluding his bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he took the podium to address the reporters at the press meet organized at the US Embassy in New Delhi.

The US President, who is on his maiden visit to India, was asked with the pile of questions including India-US bilateral ties, investments, and more importantly, he was ought to answer the questions raised about the Center's Citizenship Amendment Act what the opposition criticized as a divisive and pro-Hindutva propaganda of the ruling BJP party. In his address, as reported by ANI, Trump said that "We had a great time. We had great meetings. This is a tremendous country. I think they like us more than they ever liked us. There is a great relationship between the Prime Minister and myself".

When asked about the ongoing violence in North East Delhi and CAA, Donald Trump said that they talked about religious freedom and stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants people to have religious freedom and India has worked hard on it and he further stated that "I heard about the individual attacks but I did not discuss it. It is up to India". He also said he spoke about US Peace deal with Taliban and added that Indian likes to see the deal happen. Responding to the question of terrorism from Pakistan, he said "We talked a lot about it at length today. No question it is a problem. They are working on it. I said I will do whatever I can do to help because my relationship with both gentlemen (Modi and Imran Khan) is so good.

Trump again pressed and reinstated that he would do the mediation between India and Pakistan if he can do anything and stated that every story has two sides and cited that the leaders discussed terrorism at length today and asserted that India will make the right decision to its people. While responding to the Delhi violence, Trump admitted that he heard about it but claimed that he didn't discuss the issue with Modi.

His assertion comes at a high time when parts of Northeastern Delhi have been witnessing unprecedented arson and riots between pro and anti CAA forces that reached its third straight day and at the time of writing, we have been told that the death toll of the violence had climbed to 10. Trump has highlighted Modi's notion of upholding religious freedom in India and he made the statement just a few kilometers away from where the violence on the citizenship bill has been ongoing. According to ANI, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday appealed to all to desist from spreading rumors and said that political parties should cooperate with police to quell these rumors and dispel fear among the public. He also appealed to the public at large&media to communicate responsibly&avoid spreading rumors.
