Taking a strong and intense notion against the Modi-led Central government, Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekar Rao has slammed the Center over its latest mega package on reviving the economy and directly accused the Modi government of treating the states like beggars and it has demeaned itself by reducing its prestige. 

Chief Minister Rao has claimed that the Center has imposed conditions for increasing the borrowing limits under the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act (FRBM) which is a betrayal and pure cheating. While airing his address on Monday, the Chief Minister stated that he felt very pained on how the Center has been treating the states. 

According to the Chief Minister, the special economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore is against federalism and the Center is attempting to dominate the states and this is not the package that the state had asked for. He said that the state governments are not subordinates for Center but these are governments formed under the constitution and the state governments have more responsibility to the people than the Center. 

Chandrasekar Rao stated that the governments have been expecting fiscal support and cash in their hands to pass it to the affected people and if the Center implements its proposed reforms in various sectors, it would directly add more burden to the people. 

The Chief of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has raised the issue with the Center's condition to raise FRBM limits for the states from 3% to 5%, that would let the states to repay the loans without the contribution from the Center. He also put forth the opinions of some of the international journals that criticized the economic package. 

These journals quizzed whether the package was proposed to revive the economy or its just a jugglery of figures. Rao stated that the Center hasn't provided even Rs 1 lakh crore and treating the states like beggars and he claimed that the mega package is blatant fraud and raised the question to the Center on how can it termed as a package. This has proved Modi's talks of co-operative federalism as bogus, he added.
