MNM unveils the second list of candidates...Kamal Haasan reveals his constituency!

Days after releasing the first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly polls, Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam has on Friday unveiled the second list of candidates in which the party has announced the candidates for 43 seats including the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha by-poll, which will be taking place along with the Tamil Nadu assembly polls. 

Kamal Haasan is approaching his first legislative election since launching his party and he is prepared to contest in the polls for the first time. While it was speculated that Kamal Haasan will be contesting from Alandur, Chennai, he has now revealed that he will be contesting from the Coimbatore South constituency in the upcoming polls. By announcing his candidacy, he is ready to take on the BJP and Congress candidates in the constituency. 

Kamal Haasan unveiled the second list of candidates in Chennai on Friday and while addressing the reporters on deciding to contest in the Kongu belt, the actor-turned-politician said, "Coimbatore is a place close to my heart and it is sad that it has become a corrupt capital now. I am planning to change that and my voice will ring like a sound of conch from Coimbatore in the assembly and it's in people's hands for that to happen".  

Speaking about his father's wish, Kamal Haasan said that his father was inspired by Gandhi to enter politics. He stated, "My father has been my guru for oratorical skills and he would educate me from a very young age and my brother Chandrahasan was the one who stood between me, politics, and my education. His wish was for me to become an IAS first and then enter politics. Although I could not fulfill one part of it, I have many IAS officers in my party". 

Kamal Haasan had released the second list of candidates and some of the notable names include veteran politician Pazha. Karuppiah, former bureaucrat Santhosh Babu, veteran actress Sripriya, and party's senior leader Mahendran. The following is the second set of the list of candidates and constituencies of Makkal Needhi Maiam, 

Ponneri - Thesingurajan, Thiruvallur - Thanigavel, Avadi - Udhayakumar, Ambattur- Vaidheeswaran, Thiruvottiyur - SD Mohan, Kolathur - Jagadeesh, Villivakkam - Sriharan Bala, T Nagar - Pazha Karuppiah, Mylapore- Sripriya, Velachery- Santhosh Babu, Solinghanallur- Rajiv, Alandur - Sarath Babu, Ranipet - Adam Batsha, Vellore - Vikram Chakravarthy, Uthankarai - Mukesh, Krishnagiri - Ravishankar, Dharmapuri - Jaya Venkatesh, Pappireddypatti - Srinivasan, and Gingee- RP Sripathi.

The party has offered a ticket to Subha Charles to contest in the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha by-poll. Makkal Needhi Maiam had on Wednesday announced its first list of 70 candidates and some of the notable candidates in the first list include Ponraj, advisor to former President Abdul Kalam, - Anna Nagar, Snehan - Virugambakkam, Padmapriya, Youtuber - Maduravoyal, Priyadharshini - Egmore, Sneha Mohandoss, founder of Food Bank, from Saidapet, and Senthil Arumugam, Satta Panjayathu Iyyakam, from Pallavaram.

Makkal Needhi Maiam has built a third front in the upcoming polls and the Kamal's party has formed an alliance with Sarathkumar's Samathuva Makkal Katchi and Paari Vendhar's Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK). Makkal Needhi Maiam has inked a deal with SMK and IJK and as per the deal, Makkal Needhi Maiam will be contesting in 154 seats while SMK and IJK will be contesting from 40 seats each. So far, Kamal Haasan has announced 103 candidates and the allied parties have also been announcing the candidates. Tamil Nadu will be going to the polls on April 6 and the votes will be counted on May 2, during which the results will be announced.
