MK Stalin unveils new campaign: What's in the DMK's plan of defeating ADMK?

With Tamil Nadu being just months away from the legislative elections, which would be the first assembly polls since the demise of political giants Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi, the rivals DMK and ADMK are preparing for a real fight in becoming a perfect successor for the departed leaders. After a decade of staying out of power, DMK hopes to oust the ADMK regime while Edappadi Palaniswami hopes to drive ADMK in forming the government for the third consecutive term.

As part of its drive to oust the ADMK rule, the Tamil Nadu Opposition  DMK party has on Sunday launched a campaign against the ADMK and to take the flawed governance and irregularities to the voters. According to reports, DMK has unveiled the campaign titled 'We Reject ADMK' on Sunday at a high time when both rival leaders Stalin and Edappadi Palaniswami are going to lock horns at the campaign trails ahead of the assembly polls.

After unveiling its new campaign, the DMK had released a video in which the party had covered the lack of governance by ADMK and issues in the state that are surfaced around education and agriculture and the opposition party had urged the voters to defeat the ADMK in the elections. While speaking to the party functionaries on Sunday at the DMK headquarters, DMK President MK Stalin had instructed the party members to work hard for the upcoming elections.

Stalin asserted that the party will come to power after the polls and will form a new government to work for the welfare of the people. By citing that the party has been aiming to attain a historic victory similar to the 1996 and 2004 elections in the state, Stalin stated that the members must put their complete efforts to get that kind of victory and the opposition leader has also asked the party members to keep away from small internal differences and issues and he said that the party's real candidate is the party's symbol and Kalaignar M Karunanidhi.

He said that his election is to bring Kalaignar's dreams alive. Stalin further flayed the ruling ADMK government and said the ruling party is running on money power and the media organizations in the state were functioning against the DMK. He urged the party members to mitigate the tussles and personal dispute and put their complete effort to secure a big victory in the polls.

In his address, Stalin said that the senior party functionaries will visit over 16,000 villages and wards to conduct gram sabhas and the party would pass and adopt resolutions against the ADMK government during such sabhas. According to reports, the DMK has unveiled its campaign a day after Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami launched his poll campaign from his native Salem district.

In his video message, Stalin said that the entire Tamil Nadu has been affected due to the lack of governance of the ADMK government and to remove this government that is working against the Tamil people, about 1,600 DMK leaders will visit over 16,000 villages and wards with the banner of 'We Reject ADMK' and the leaders will hold gram sabha meetings and adopt resolutions against the ruling party.

The reports say that the gram sabha meetings are scheduled from December 23 to January 10 during which the party leaders would speak about and highlight the issues such as NEET, which had claimed the lives of some medical aspirants, issues faced by farmers, soaring unemployment, appalling law and order situation, and corruption charges against the ADMK.
