Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 1 has been slated for theatrical release on September 30, 2022. In what has become the dream project of Kollywood, Ponniyin Selvan has brought in an ensemble cast and recently, the makers had unveiled the teaser at a grand event that was held in Chennai.
While the cast and crew had participated in the event, actor Vikram, who plays a lead role in the movie, didn't attend owing to health issues. On the day of the event, Vikram was hospitalized in Chennai due to a high fever and his sudden hospitalization has saddened the fans as they missed him at the event. With the view to healing the disappointment endured by the fans, the movie team has now released a roaring update to relish the fans of actor Vikram.
On Tuesday, Lyca Productions, which bankrolls the movie, released a poster and wrote, "Missed the Crown Prince at the event? We have something special for you! Tomorrow at 5 pm." Fans had been guessing what would be the real deal. As announced, the makers have released a glimpse video on Wednesday at 5 pm, which featured a dubbing session of actor Vikram.
Vikram has seen lending his voice to five languages as Ponniyin Selvan is going to get released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Releasing the video, Lyca Productions wrote, "Our Chola Tiger Roars- in 5 tongues!." The film carries a proficient club of actors like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, magnetised and R. Parthiban. The music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with cinematography handled by Ravi Varman, editing done by A. Sreekar Prasad and production design by Thota Tharani.
