From memorial to temple...By worshipping Jayalalithaa, ADMK sends a message!

Ahead of VK Sasikala's arrival in Chennai and the state assembly polls,  the Tamil Nadu ruling ADMK party has been unfolding its efforts of taking ownership of the legacies left by the influential Chief Ministers MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa to ensure that the legacies and the control of the party stay with the current leaders and sending a message to Sasikala that they won't be taken away from the party.

The current leaders of ADMK are using Jayalalithaa and her legacy as the prospect to emerge victorious in the upcoming polls and to keep the party under their control amid the speculations over Sasikala's political resurgence. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami had on January 27 inaugurated the memorial of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Chennai on the same day when Sasikala was released from the prison. The inauguration ceremony had seen the presence of thousands of party members and the government has also made Jayalalithaa's house in Poes Garden as her memorial.

Edappadi Palaniswami has asserted that the ADMK won't be welcoming Sasikala into the party at any moment. According to reports, the party has begun its bid to display Jayalalithaa's face and fame for the upcoming poll, which is the first election since her demise. From their caravans to political advertisements, the ruling leaders haven't missed Jayalalithaa's legacy to reach and cover more people with the promise of delivering her governance in the state.

Going one step further, Tamil Nadu has witnessed the unveiling of MGR- Jayalalithaa temple ahead of the assembly polls in the party's bid to display how it treats its former Chiefs and respects their legacies. On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam had inaugurated a temple that was constructed for late Chief Ministers MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa in T Kunnathur in Madurai district.

According to reports, Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar has constructed the temple on behalf of Amma Peravai. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the senior ministers and it has come at a high time when Sasikala is days ahead of her arrival in Chennai. Speaking at the ceremony, Panneerselvam had slammed DMK and its chief MK Stalin. Indirectly flaying Stalin, Panneerselvam said, "Some will disrespect gods all the time, but they would celebrate them during the election time. They (DMK) recruited people from North India (Prashant Kishor) to hunt for the ways to win the elections".

By citing that Stalin is now holding a vel ( a divine spear associated with Lord Murugan) due to elections, Panneerselvam claimed that DMK can't come to power. He further stated that the people of Tamil Nadu won't believe Stalin and added that the welfare schemes given by Jayalalithaa had reached everyone in the state. Staunchly attacking the DMK, Panneerselvam said that DMK will only fill its coffers if it comes to power.

Following Panneerselvam, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami had addressed the ceremony and thanked minister Udhayakumar for constructing the temple for the influential leaders. The Chief Minister said that MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa had worked for the people tirelessly throughout their life. Edappadi Palaniswami said that the services and schemes of both of his predecessors can't be forgotten.

The Chief Minister has said that MGR and Jayalalithaa don't have children and the members of the party are their children. Edappadi Palaniswami had listed out various welfare measures introduced by the two late Chief Ministers and claimed that ADMK is the only government that worked for the poor and marginalized people. The Chief Minister said that the party will ensure its rule in 2021 and he called the members and supporters to work towards winning the elections to make MGR and Jayalalithaa proud.
